Organisation for the IODAI Annual Spring Training Clinic is now in full swing and all we need is your entry. Dates for the event are Monday 21st February until Friday 25th February inclusive. Come on down and enjoy your Spring Mid-Term Holidays. We promise it to be the best International Clinic in 2011.

All levels will be catered for: Main Fleet, Transition from Regatta to main fleet, Regatta fleet and Pre- Regatta Fleet.

All the family catered for Mums, Dads, Older and young siblings will all be entertained whilst your sailors are out having fun. If the weather turns bad there will be plenty of activities planned so it will not be a week of hanging around waiting for the right conditions to go out on the water.

So Why Come To Baltimore

Meeting Friends: those of you who have been before will meet your sailing pals in preparation for the season ahead. Those of you who have never been before will meet lots of new friends from all over the country of similar standard of sailing and will remain friends throughout your sailing years and beyond

Improve Sailing

This year the line up of coaches makes it the best International Clinic ever. We will make it so easy to improve your sailing skills. You will be grouped in mixed groups for Racing and then small groups for coaching.

Top International and Top Irish Coaches will be in Baltimore and we promise a high standard of coaching appropriate to your ability from Snr Gold down to pre-regatta fleets. The length of time spent on the water each day will depend on your ability.

The Coaching

Top International Coaches have been booked for the week on a ratio that will ensure you the sailor will receive training suitable for your ability. Keep watching the website for updates on International and Irish Coaches.

The ISA Squad will be in attendance with their Head Coach Thomas Chaix.

Regatta Fleet Coaching

This will be head up by a TOP Irish Coach and it is a very exciting and detailed programme with a ratio of maximum 1 coach to 8 sailors

Pre Regatta Fleet Coaching

This is for beginners, possibility your first time to sail in your optimist. You will be in groups of one coach to 6 sailors and promises to be a great introduction to sailing hopefully you will be able to sail on your own by the end of the week.

Social Activities.

A separate committee have joined together to organise plenty to do whilst you are not on the water to include our traditional events of Cake Competition and Disco.

For non sailors come along and meet other oppie parents and share coffee, organised walks cycles, boat trip to one of the islands and oppie rigging clinic, ISA talk to name but a few . Fitbones will again organise a camp for non sailors from Monday to Friday. wwfitbones.ie more details to follow

Work Rosters:

Yes all events involving you Kids involve the help of your parents. For your Parents is a great way to meet new people and share the knowledge with each other. The success of Baltimore week depends greatly on parents volunteering throughout the week and the time you invest will be greatly appreciated by the organising committee (who are voluntary also).

WE require parents to pick one activity on the entry form, everyone can help out- those of you who like getting wet can opt for Launching outdoor people can opt for safety, or the rest of you can opt for making hot-chocolate, catering entertainment etc.If everyone volunteers for one activity it will be fun everyone (although if you are willing to volunteer all week we won’t say no.!!!)

Food

For those who have not been to our Spring Training Week before, the day starts with breakfast in your house/accommodation. We provide the lunch (hot soup and fresh rolls with all the fillings you’ll desire and you pick) hot chocolate and biscuits when you come off the water at 5pm.

Ribs

Voluntary Ribs are required for the safe running of the event. If you have or can borrow a Rib please let us know as soon as possible. We require a minimum of 12 Ribs to ensure the safety and coaching on the water. Baltimore S.C is providing us with 7 Ribs.

Location:

Baltimore Sailing Club Baltimore West Cork. The sailing club is walking distance from the Village and is a safe Location. No need for cars for the week.

Accommodation; Most people tend to rent local accommodation for the week or share accommodation, Casey’s Hotel is quite attractive with attractive prices.
