International Coaches

Søren Laugesen

My name is Søren Laugesen and I am 32 years old. I have been sailing since I was born.

I started out sailing optis, and after I moved into Europes and Lasers. I have also been racing a great number of keelboat classes and Matchrace.

I started coaching when I was 15, and have been doing this full time the last 10 years. I have been a National Team coach in both Denmark and in the States, and now I am working a lot with a group of Irish sailors. During all the years I have been at more than 50 championships either as a sailor or as a coach.

I am educated as school teacher followed with a Master degree in coaching from the International Training Academy.

Grit Müller.

I come from Hamburg, Germany. I have been working as a sailing coach, since I was 15 years old. After the university I got a job in one of the biggest German sailing clubs. We have about 120 kids sailing in optimist an about 70 young people in the next classes (laser, 420, Europe, 29er, J24…).

In 1998 I coached my first World Championship for the German optimist association. I took part in a lot of international clinics (Hyeres, Pula, Palamos…) and events (Worlds, European championships, North Americans). My biggest success was the first title “European champion” for a German girl in 2008 and the double title (boys and girls) one year later in Slovenia 2009.

What I´m doing, when I´m not coaching? Sailing…..

I´m happy to take part in your clinic and I´m sure, we will have a great time together.
