Amanda O'Connell IODAI committee member has overall responsibility for the Regatta Fleet.

Cian O'Regan from Kinsale Yacht Club is the Regatta Fleet Head Coach, and Conor Hopkins of Howth Yacht Club is the Regatta Fleet Assistant Head Coach.

The Regatta Fleet Head Coach and Assistant Head Coach positions are advertised annually by IODAI. Should either coach choose to remain on in their position at the end of year 1, they may do so for a second year.

Two IODAI members, from two different clubs, will conduct interviews for the positions.

From 2012, IODAI have introduced the Regatta Fleet Internship Program.

IODAI will sponsor the Regatta Fleet Head Coach - flights, accomodation - to attend one of the International team events during the Summer. The Regatta Fleet Head Coach will shadow the coach appointed to the team, assisting with coaching on or off the water. They will gain experience of coaching at international level.

In return, they will commit to work at IODAI events in the coming year - they may give a talk to the fleet about an element of sailing or rules; they will take responsibility for the Regatta Fleet at regional events and the nationals for that year, and they will coach in the Regatta or Main fleet at Baltimore. 

The purpose of this internship is that a young coach will gain valuable international experience, at IODAI's expense, and in return they will pass the benefit of that experience back to the Regatta Fleet in the following season.
