Invitation to attend a team racing event in Monaco
Dear Sailors and Parents
IODAI has once again received an invitation from the Monaco Yacht Club to enter a team in an International team racing event from the 20th January to the 22nd of January 2012.
This is an invitation only event. RCYC who have reciprocity with MYC have also been invited and are considering entering a team as are Howth Yacht Club.
If you intend sailing on behalf of your club please do not send in an application to IODAI. Last year some sailors entered for their club teams and the IODAI team they pulled out of the IODAI team when they received a club place. IODAI were as a result of this unable to send a team and some sailors were left dissapointed.
The invitation offers boat charter, entry and some meals for 150 euros per sailors. The Monaco Yacht Club provides accomodation to teams. (flights are currently quite cheap).
IODAI are hereby offering the invitation out to the membership to see if any sailors would be interested in going. This is an international event where we assume the standard will be quite high. Therefore we are asking for applications from the top ranked 40 Seniors and top 40 Juniors who have some team racing experience. In the event of more than the required team number (4) responding, we (IODAI) will then apply a selection criteria. Since the event is just under 3 months from now, IODAI selection (should it be necessary) will be final – there is not time for appeals. Similarly, no sailor should apply unless they are fully prepared to attend if selected.
All applications to attend should be e-mailed to honsec@iodai.com before 28th November 2011. Applications after this date will not be considered unless insufficient applications have been received for a team. The “selected sailors” will be notified as soon as possible after that date. This also allows for sailors wishing to attend availing of flights as cheaply as possible.
Parents should note that once a team is selected, it will be up to parents of the selected sailors to make all necessary arrangements for the team’s attendance including team parent and / or coach as necessary. No funding for the event is available from IODAI.

IODAI has no further information on the event and queries should be made directly to Yacht Club de Monaco.
