WELL EVERYONE, 4 DAYS TO GO……

WELL EVERYONE, 4 DAYS TO GO……

Get out and make sure you have everything packed and ready to go.  If possible, as the forecast is for cold temperatures, we highly recommend dry suits for all sailors. Note: It is not recommended to wear rash vests under dry suits as they cool you down rather than warm you up so wear fleeces and thin layers - fleecy pj’s work really well and are a cheap alternative! Rubber gloves (small size) are great hand warmers under gloves. (Pop socks for over the dry suit feet works well and talc for the neck).

Some admin before we get there. Each sailor must have their own individual sail number - no two sailors can have the same sail number.  If you have not provided us with a valid sail number for your sailor, please do so immediately by emailing ciarawalsh72@eircom.net

This week will kick off with registration from 3:00 p.m. on Sunday.  A parent/guardian must accompany the sailor to register.  The attached Medical Form must be completed for each sailor and returned at registration. This year we have organized a breakfast video link with Damien Foxhall with the Volvo Ocean Race in China on Tuesday morning.  We are asking the sailors to come up with a question they would like to ask Damien. Those with the best questions may be given an opportunity to the ask the man himself directly.  Please click here to print out your question on the form attached and give it in at registration.

All parents/guardians are invited to a glass of wine and meet and greet all the IODAI committee and organisers and coaches for the event on Sunday between 5:00 and 6:00 p.m. in the sailing Club. Hopefully you can all make it then.

There will be a mobile chandlers, Curra Dinghy, in Baltimore on location during the week if you are missing lashings, painters, buoyancy bags, gloves, lifejackets etc so don’t panic. If you want to pre-order anything contact Tom Mappleback on 086247551.

All sailors meet at 9.00am on Monday in their allocated boat parking spots.  All sailors should come down to the club on Monday morning ready and dressed for sailing. Due to limited space in the clubhouse changing rooms, where possible we ask that sailors come down dressed ready to sail.

With the exception of the Regatta Fleet all coaches will rotate within their groups. We have a super line-up of coaches for the week:  Lola Resano, Magda Resano, Diego Blatt, Maurice O’Connell,Emil Malstrom, Tiffany O’Brien, Rory Lynch, David Kenefick, Ivor McNamara, Troy McNamara, Colm O’Regan, Conor Hopkins, Ross JP Dormody, Georgian Colbeot and Sam McGinley.

Mums & Dads don’t worry about lunches, they will be provided as usual when the kids come in off the water.

Entertainment is looking great for everyone with plenty for those left ashore (Fitbones, ladies lunch, walks, etc.) and evening entertainment for the kids including: Pizza night, Cinema, Dun Sead Castle Tour, disco, RNLI Lifeboat Tour, cake competition…. All information/bookings will be available for everything when you arrive and register.

Let’s hope now the weather is kind to us in Baltimore and we are looking forward to seeing you all there.
