Trials 2012 - what you need to know.

The Top 40 juniors & Top 40 seniors (excluding retirees by age) have been sent an email inviting them to trials

The purpose of the trials is to determine which sailors will represent Ireland at the World Championships in Dominican Republic, the European Championships in Italy and at the French Open Championships in Loctudy later in the year. All Under 12 sailors participating in the Trials will be invited to join the IODAI Under 12 Squad who will travel to the UK Nationals in Pwllheli. A number of sailors will also be invited to the Volvo Ocean Race Team racing event.

The rules for team selection are complex but we've done our best to make them as clear as possible !

They are outlined in the notice of race below..

While many of you will have ambitions to get on a team, we must all remember that not everyone can make a team. You may have some bad luck or the conditions may not suit you. For many of you there will be next year and for everyone there is the rest of your sailing career to set and achieve personal goals.

Before trials you need to get the following measured:

• Spars
• Foils
• Sail (Even if it came with a measurement cert you will need the numbers measured).

You cannot turn up at trials with out this done.

Then Parents please download the Equipment Declaration form and bring it with you along with the boat & measurement book and child (One hasn't been forgotten yet but anything is possible !)

Some sailors will have a great trials and make a team others will not be so lucky.
Remember Oppies are only the start of your sailing experience not the end !
