Tralee Bay Sailing Club

Musto Irish National Optimist Championships 2008

Instructions on Arrival

Welcome

Céad míle fáilte to all Oppie sailors, your families, friends and coaches. The members of Tralee Bay Sailing Club will endeavour to make your stay one of enjoyment, fun and good sailing.

Please follow the guidance below and the directions of the Club volunteers during the hectic arrival of almost two hundred oppies, together with road trailers, support boats and humans!

Optimists

  • Please arrive early.
  • Set down along the pathway just outside the TBSC dinghy park gates.
  • Sufficient time will be allowed and help provided for the unloading of your boat(s).
  • An area for the Regatta Fleet oppies will be allocated towards the rear of the dinghy park while Main Fleet boats may be parked towards the slip-end.
  • Once you have completed unloading, car and box trailers must be removed from the set-down area and brought to the designated storage space/casual campsite beside the local Samphires soccer pitch. Follow the directional signs. The car park opposite the club and the Club grounds will not be available for trailer storage.

Registration Office

  • The Registration Office is located upstairs in the Clubhouse.
  • Open Tuesday 1500–2300hrs (but please arrive early) & Wednesday 0800 – 0930hrs.
  • No entries will be accepted at registration. Entries will have closed on Sunday 17th August at 2100hrs.

RIBs & other Boats

  • Register in the Registration Office upstairs in the Clubhouse. All support boats must carry a designated flag which will be provided at registration. Please note that Fenit Harbour Commissioner is independent of TBSC and there will be a charge for marina berths. This charge will be collected at Registration, by TBSC, on behalf of the Fenit Harbour Commissioner.
  • RIBs may be launched from the public slipway which is adjacent to the Club and berthed at Fenit Marina. You must notify the Harbour Office when you berth and you will be required to present the receipt of marina fees.
  • Please park your RIB trailer in the designated area near the soccer pitch. The car park opposite the club and the Club grounds will not be available for trailer storage.
  • RIBs may not use the Club pontoon at any time.
  • Unfortunately, there is no petrol available in Fenit. The nearest stations are in Tralee.

TBSC Events Committee

It is only one week to go to the Nationals.  Hope you are all getting ready and looking forward to it.

Some people have had difficulty getting measuring due to several of our measurers being away. One (Brian Peelo) is away supporting his daughter Ciara (ex Oppie sailor) at the Olympics. We all wish Ciara well.

To alleviate this problem we have decided to adapt the ‘Non Conformance Document’ from IOCA for boats that are not measured. If you have equipment which you are finding difficult to get measured in time then you can fill out this Non Conformance Document.

click here to download Non conformance document

It is best to download it NOW, fill it in and present it at registration.  You can get a copy at registration in Tralee but if in any doubt its best to ahve it done beforehand. After the Nationals you then have six weeks to provide evidence that your equipment is measured and within specification..

Please note that this is a ‘one off’ as we are short of measurers at the moment. If you have any questions about how to do this please email me or phone me at 087 2620739.

TBSC would appreciate it if all sailors could enter as quickly as possible for the nationals. Sailors hoping to enter on the day will NOT be accepted so it is vital to go through the pre registration either online or by posting forms. If online payment is tricky people should enter online and post a cheque on to the club c/o Optimist National Championships, Tralee Bay Sailing Club,Fenit,Co. Kerry

NOTE: Before using the online entry system ensure that cookies are allowed in your internet browser.  See below for advice on doing this.

Advice:  If you complete your entry and click on "pay now" but don't get a payment page then you will probably need to enable cookies for PayPal.  Depending on your browser you can do this in one of two ways:

1. If you see a little icon with and an eye in your status bar at the bottom of the webpage, click on it and it will bring up a dialogue box which may indicate that cookies are blocked on some sites.  Right click on these sites and check the box "Always allow cookies from this site".  You can also click on "Setting" and when the dialogue box opens you can adjust the slider control to "allow all cookies on all sites".  You can always change it back again later.  Or, you can click on "sites" and enter "paypal.com" into the allowed sites.

OR

2. In your web brower (Internet Explorer), click tools and Internet Options.  Click on the Privacy tab and adjust the slider control to "allow all cookies on all sites".  You can always change it back again later if you wish.  Or, you can click on "sites" and enter "paypal.com" into the allowed sites.

Note:  If you fail at the first attempt to complete your online entry and send payment, you will have to repeat the process from the beginning.  This will create a duplicate entry but this can be removed by the club.
