DESCRIPTION:Irish Optimist Nationals pre-entry registration is now open until 22nd July. Late entry fee €205.00\nEntry Closes. 4th April 2020. \nEvent webpage\nLink to the HYC event webpage\, with details regarding the event at Howth Yacht Club\nhttps://hyc.ie/irish-sailing-youth-national-championships-2020 \nQualification\nThe following are the conditions to qualify for Trials:\nSailor must compete in the Nationals + (at least) 2 Regionals\nScoring is the sum of Nationals place + 2 best Regionals placing (excluding non-Irish sailors)\nTies are broken by applying ISAF RRS Appendix A Section 8 (which is the way we break ties in events).\nSpecifically\,\nThe first tie break is number of 1’s excluding drops\, then number of 2’s excluding drops\, etc… until the tie is broken.\nIf sailors remain tied\, then the most recent event (including drops) is used.\nA sailor is given a “3000” for a missed event\nSenior Fleet: Top 45 (and ties) after taking out compulsory retirements due to age.\nJunior Fleet: Top 45 (and ties)\nMedical exemptions are considered on an individual basis and do not count towards the cap.\nSailors representing Ireland as a member of a national team will be given average placing in the other 4 events for an event missed due to national team competition. \nLinks to key documents\nIrish Sailing Consent Form \nIrish Sailing Youth Nationals Notice of Race\nThe Optimist Trials is run as part of Irish Sailing’s ‘Youth Nationals’. Please also see the supplementary sailing instructions below \nSupplemental Sailing instruction (HYC 2020)\nSupplemental SI Trials 2020\nThese are to be read in conjunction with the Notice of Race and IODAI’s Major Event Sailing Instructions.\nThe Supplementary Sailing Instructions will take precedence in the event of any conflict between the three documents. \nMeasurement Self Declaration Form\nTo be completed and presented at registration. \nIt is important that all sailors ensure that they have evidence that their equipment is fully compliant with class\nrules. At registration competitors will be required to produce the following:\n• Boat registration certificate (in the name of the sailor or the sailor’s family)\n• Boat and third party insurance policy\n• Sail\, sail number and certificate\n• Measurement certificates for\n◦ Mast\, boom and sprit\n◦ Daggerboard and rudder\n• Buoyancy test certificate (which can be done by a measurer or yacht club official) \nBoats will not all be weighed but the race committee reserves the right to carry out ad-hoc inspections throughout the event. \nThis is to ensure sailors are fully prepared for the measurement requirements at international events. \nTeams\nDocuments outlining the selection rules for Teams\, Team training dates\, Team costs and Codes of Behaviour will follow.

The IODAI membership fee of €60.01 can now also be paid on IODAI.com \nDiscounts \nIODAI membership discount for third child and subsequent children. If your family have three or more sailors\, please pay your membership as normal and apply for your third and subsequent child discount to the IODAI treasurer.  To apply for your families discount you need to email iodaitreasurer@iodai.com by 16th December and we will refund you €30 for your third and subsequent children.
