Ireland leading British Nationals after Day 1
Great day for Irish sailors at the British Optimist Nationals yesterday. The Junior fleet sailed 2 races and Jamie McMahon of HYC leads the Junior fleet with a 3rd & 1st. There are 2 other U 12 sailors in the top 20 so a great start to the event. In the senior fleet there was only 1 race held and Harry Durcan won his section and is in joint first place going into day 2. There is one other Irish sailor Peter Fagan in the top 20 of the seniors but with lots more races to be sailed there hopefully will be lots more to talk about as the week goes on.
