Regatta Fleet at Crosbie Cup 2014
Regatta Fleet at Crosbie Cup 2014 in Malahide yacht club. Overall it was a successful event with very little problems (part in thanks to the light winds) . Overall winner of the regatta fleet was Moss Simington who also won the under 10 . Alice Lacy placed 4th overall and received the under 9 prize. Best local was Harry Shackleton. Things went pretty smoothly for the regatta fleet as we had 3/4 coaches who had helped in the Baltimore IODAI clinic for the week in Febuary. Dara O’Shea was assisting me as Deputy Coach and we had Thomas Natin from MYC who also knew the routine with these events. Graeme Smith (commodore ) was the OD along with 2 others for the first day on a topaz Omega that was anchored in the middle of the estuary . I towed the Omega out to anchor before the regatta fleet had launched so we could lay the course immediately after they launched and bang out 3 races. The course was a good length, taking 20-25 for the first boat to finish and no more than 35 for the last boat. The clubs facilities were good. Changing rooms and rigging area was great ( with our own specific segregated area on the grass ) and the plaques provided by the club were very nice also Malahide is always a great venue for a regatta fleet event and with the wind we had it was plain sailing! Well done to all the Crosbie Cup Regatta fleet sailors. Mark Condy.
