IODAI Sprint Series 2026
The Irish Optimist Dinghy Association (IODAI) is delighted to announce the schedule for the IODAI Sprint Series 2026, a key fixture in the Optimist sailing calendar.
Aimed at Gold and Silver Fleet sailors, the series provides an important preparation opportunity ahead of the Irish Sailing Youth Nationals, which will take place in April 2026 in Ballyholme.
The 2026 Sprint Series will consist of three one-day events hosted by sailing clubs around the country:
Leg One: National Yacht Club – 7th February 2026
Leg Two: Malahide Yacht Club – 7th March 2026
Leg Three: Monkstown Bay Sailing Club – 28th March 2026
The sprint format remains unchanged, with four competitive races at each event. These races are designed to give sailors high-quality race experience in the lead-up to Youth Nationals, the international team selection event for the Optimist class.
Entries will open via the IODAI Events Page, with a closing date to be announced shortly. Sailors and clubs are encouraged to enter early to assist host clubs and race organisers with planning and logistics.
