The Optimist Ulsters took place in the Royal North of Ireland Yacht Club, with a fleet of 100 Optimists traveling to the event. In trying conditions the race committee got three races in on Saturday but unfortunately the weather was not with them on Sunday. After an initial postponement, racing was eventually abandoned on Sunday.
Rory O’Sullivan of RCYC won first place at the Ulsters this weekend. He had a great event with two firsts and a second. First place in the Juniors went to Luke Turvey of HYC & NYC, who had three bullets. First place in Regatta fleet went to Oisin Kelly.
A big thank you to all the race committee and the team of volunteers at the Royal North of Ireland Yacht Club. You made all the Optimist fleet feel very welcome and really made the weekend special.
Well done to all the fantastic sailors who travelled from the four corners of Ireland to compete at the Ulsters. You guys did an amazing job sailing in such challenging conditions and deserve a big pat on the back.
