2021 Committee
Happy new year from the 2021 IODAI Committee.
Following an engaging and positive AGM, we drew a close to an unusual year and we look forward with renewed motivation to represent our member sailors in 2021.
The AGM also reflected the end of three very successful years of tenure from Tim Lucas our president from 2018 to 2020 during which time the Optimist class continued to grow and achieved some of the best international results ever by its sailors. Tim has given a lot to the
class and was a great leader for the class and committee, he along with Colm Paul and Barry Dempsey have done so much for the class will be sorely missed.
Another person standing down was Jill Summerville as a Director of IODAI. Jill was a committee member for many years and a Director thereafter. The Committee presented Jill with a token of our gratitude on the Zoom call, with the thanks to her family, in person.
Cristina Arigho will join IODAI as a director from 2021, thank you Christina.
At the AGM Alex Walsh was elected president for 2021 three new committee members were also elected, Derek Moynan RCYC, Jill Doig from EABC together with Tom Mappleback from KYC, who joined during 2020. The 2021 committee team has set out its roles and responsibilities for the coming year and set out its themes for the year, the document attached
was presented at the AGM.
We would encourage you to review the document for more detail and we will be engaging on these topics during the year. As a part of this, there is a commitment from the committee to present to members what decisions are made on behalf of members and you shortly see the results of the January committee meeting published.
Shortly we will be presenting the calendar for the year and whilst it still remains a challenging environment for us to run events, the committee will be looking to achieve what we can from the year while keeping the spirit of the class moving forward.
Alex Walsh
