Testing Day for our Sailors on Day 1 of the Leinsters

HowthSails

Day 1 of the Leinsters really put it up to all the sailors.

Bitterly cold conditions, a confused sea, wind gusts of over 25 knots, and a rip-roaring tide made sailors value their hats and gloves. Anyone who didn’t have them today will have them tomorrow!

Three races were sailed in the Main Fleet.

In the Senior Fleet, Harry Durcan (RCYC) who recently won the Nationals displayed his skills with two bullets, while James McCann(RCYC) took the third race. Top 5 Seniors are Harry, Johnny Durcan(RCYC), James McCann, Gemma McDowell (MYC) and Peter Fagan (SSC), with Amy Carroll (KYC) leading the Senior Silver Fleet.

In the Junior Fleet, Emma Parker(SSC) also took a strong lead with bullets in races 2 and 3, with race 1 won by Chris Bateman (RCYC) placing him in second place. Jamie McMahon from the home club(HYC) is in third place, followed by Harry Bell (RNIYC) and Ella Hemeryck (NYC/WHSC).

Lets hope Sunday brings more favourable weather!
